Having a “hunched back” or hyperkyphosis is an abnormal posture where the middle of the spine is curved too much. This bad posture can damage the spine and make it harder for the body to function well.
The first problem caused by hyperkyphosis is that it can stop the body from using its five senses normally: (sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell). The second problem caused by hyperkyphosis is that it can stop the body from moving and taking action normally.
The reason hyperkyphosis can cause these problems is because the nervous system, which controls the senses and the body’s movement, is connected to the spine. When the spine is curved abnormally, the nervous system can’t work the way it normally does. This is bad for everyone—children, adults, seniors, and anyone who is trying to live an active life!
Finally, hyperkyphosis can cause chronic pain. A study of 80 people found a way to measure hyper-kyphosis and estimate its effects on the body in order to treat it properly. Thanks to this study and studies like it, it is now easier to identify, isolate and treat hyperkyphosis effectively.
