Is it possible to be “too healthy” for chiropractic care?
A common misconception about chiropractic care is that you only need it when you’re not feeling well. This couldn’t be further from the truth! People often feel this way about medical care, massage therapy, laser therapy, and other wellness care forms too. The idea of “I don’t need care because I’m already healthy” prevents people from getting the help they need and deserve. Just because you’re feeling good now doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take preventative measures for your future health!
Have you heard that chiropractic therapy is an effective treatment for posture problems, pain, and injury? Chiropractic care is well-known for assisting with inflammation alleviation, discomfort relief, degeneration correction, and other neuromusculoskeletal-related issues and diseases. But there is so much more to chiropractic treatment than what the general public knows.
If you are already healthy, do you still need chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care is not only a powerful tool to help those who are suffering from imbalances or disorders, but it can also be incredibly helpful for people who already consider themselves healthy. If you’re wondering how chiropractic care can improve your performance in athletics and everyday life, read on to find out!
Sometimes you may not even realize that you have lowered your expectations for what is considered to be a “healthy” lifestyle.
Most people believe they are healthy until they’re unexpectedly given a diagnosis of an illness. It’s easy to brush off frequent headaches, fatigue, and other symptoms as “normal,” but these chronic complaints might be flagging more serious health conditions. Below is a list of some commonly ignored symptoms that you shouldn’t write off.
Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most frequently overlooked problems. Back discomfort can be a dull ache, aching pain, sharp agony, throbbing agony, chilly or hot sensation pain, or shooting, rapid, electric-like discomfort. You might blame your back discomfort on an old injury, poor sleeping habits, age, bad genetics, or a variety of other reasons.
Neck Pain
Neck discomfort is another sort of pain that people frequently neglect since it can be hard to identify and cure. Neck pain might be due to poor posture, having a “bad neck,” always sitting and hunching forward, reading or texting excessively, age and deterioration, and other factors.
Facial Pain
Do you experience pain in your face? This may manifest as soreness, throbbing near the eyes or forehead, or sharp shooting pains by the jaw. The most common cause people attribute their facial pain to is sinus Pain, but it’s not the only source of this type of discomfort.
Headaches, Eye Aches, and Migraines
There is no one definitive cause of migraines, but they are often associated with stress. While there is no known cure for migraines, painkillers can help to manage the symptoms, until they don’t. If you experience headaches, eye aches, or migraines on a regular basis, you may have come to accept them as part of your life and may have developed a tolerance for painkillers which no longer makes them as effective as they once were.
Acid Reflux and Indigestion
Acid reflux and indigestion can be caused by a wide range of factors, including lifestyle choices. A poor diet might not always result in acid reflux or indigestion. You may be used to using an antiacid to relieve the pain and discomfort of acid reflux or indigestion. Antiacids can have a detrimental impact on your digestive health if taken for extended periods of time. Acid reflux and indigestion can also be caused by issues unrelated to digestion, such as the nervous system or the enteric nervous system.
Stiffness and Immobility
It’s natural to ascribe stiffness and immobility to age, and it makes sense. Most people are unaware that stiffness and immobility can be reduced or prevented with appropriate treatment. When the body is not moved often in ways that challenge, gently warm, stretch, and stimulate it physically, stiffness and immobility frequently occur. The bones, joints, tendons, muscles, and nerves of the body are all part of the neuromusculoskeletal system.
Sciatica
The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that runs from the lower back across the buttocks and down the rear of both legs. Sciatica is pain caused by irritation or inflammation of this nerve, which can be due to an injury or impact to the body that causes spinal misalignment in the low back area. This misalignment puts pressure on local nerves, leading to inflammation and eventually resulting in characteristic shooting pains associated with sciatica.
Fatigue
What is the cause of tiredness? Is it as simple as saying that we lose our ability to generate energy as we grow older? Not necessarily. Most individuals are unaware why they become fatigued or presume it is due to autoimmune diseases, other illnesses, or lifestyle habits.
Poor Posture
You’re never too young for poor posture. If old age were the only factor, we wouldn’t see so many children with hunched shoulders and “text neck.” Instead, spine misalignment is usually the cause of bad posture. This happens when joints or bones in the spine are not lined up properly due to injury, outside forces, or natural causes (sometimes a combination of all three).
Can chiropractic care help with my back pain (or other conditions)?
Chiropractic adjustments and spinal manipulation can be very beneficial for individuals suffering from any of the following: Back pain, dizziness, headaches, neck or head pains, and any issue arising from dysfunction of the neuromusculoskeletal system. Chiropractic treatment may help with a wide range of ailments that you previously thought were “part of aging,” “as a result of an injury that never healed correctly,” or “because of an accident.”
Chiropractic care focuses on the well-being of the neuromusculoskeletal system. This system is in charge of how the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems work together. When these systems are unbalanced (which often happens because of lifestyle, injury, or congenital factors), it can lead to all sorts of problems like back pain, neck pain, digestive issues, headaches—you name it.
Why does the neuromusculoskeletal system affect so much?
The neuromusculoskeletal system is crucial to the body because it is made up of three major systems. These systems control and affect so many other functions in the body, like a domino effect. If the skeletal system is not balanced, for example, then it will immediately affect nearly every other function given that the skeletal system has responsibilities that others rely on in order to function normally.
Example:
A patient comes to the clinic with chronic, severe headaches. The headaches occur regardless of whether the patient gets sufficient sleep each night and whether he or she is exposed to technology or blue light. After a series of rehabilitation techniques based on the x-rays (corrective chiropractic), the patient states that she no longer has headaches. According to the treating chiropractor, misalignment in the joints of the patient’s cervical spine (neck) was preventing nerve energy and circulation from flowing properly, causing recurring headaches.
How Chiropractic Can Improve Athletic Performance, Sports, and Exercise
Chiropractic treatment may be able to assist you, whether you’re experiencing a condition or have an issue that makes your life unpleasant. Chiropractors can help you by adjusting your spine and extremities to provide relief from many issues.
Chiropractic treatment may help you perform better in sports and have a more pleasurable exercise experience. Chiropractic therapy can improve the mobility of your joints, ligaments, and tendons as well as the suppleness and elasticity of your muscles. Chiropractic is beneficial to the nervous system, which can enhance your reaction time, speed, and endurance in your chosen activity.
Chiropractic is popular among professional athletes, including Lance Armstrong and Michael Jordan. Hikers, bikers, basketball players, football players, yoga practitioners, runners, boxers, wrestlers, bodybuilders, and other athletes appreciate chiropractic as a powerful method of enhancing their skills while also assisting their performance.
How Chiropractic Can Improve Leisure Time
Most people don’t think that spending leisure time relaxing requires any effort from the body, but it does. For example, sitting upright requires proper alignment of the spine. Laying down also requires that the skeletal structure and muscles of the body are functioning properly, or else pain (such as sciatic pain) and discomfort will result.
As people age, they often think that their decreased physical ability is just a natural part of aging. But this doesn’t have to be the case! With proper care and attention, you can stay active and enjoy your favorite activities – even as you get older.
Chiropractic care can help improve your quality of life by making your body more comfortable. By experiencing regular chiropractic care, you can enhance every aspect of your life!
